Transforming an Australian Home with Custom Blinds & Curtains from iSeekBlinds

After getting quotes from local curtain and blind companies, we were disheartened to find that (a) our budget would only allow for basic fabrics and unmotorised blinds, (b) fabric selections especially for roller blinds were always the same and (c) depending on company we chose, there was a risk of paying a lot of money for substandard installation if we were unlucky on the day to get a poor installer (as some friends but not all had experienced). So our option was, assuming we wanted to get our whole home done in one go, to compromise on fabric selections. The alternate was to install window treatments in installments over time if I was unwilling to compromise on my fabric selection. So with this sense of dismay, I turned to the internet and found iSeek blinds. The quality of the reviews and effort Michael Gubby & team has gone into making so many highly informative videos gave me the confidence to contemplate doing our own install. ( My husband could do basic drilling etc that would be required.) To guage the difference in price between iSeek and the local companies to know whether it was worth investigating further- I did a quick measure of one room (Thanks useful videos!). I was absolutely shocked to discover that I could order blinds that were motorised, had silent rails and the most expensive fabric offered for a similar price as the unmotorised basic fabric blind as the local companies. If I had chosen iSeek's chain driven and simpler yet functional fabrics- I would have saved considerably. So I ordered a huge number of free sample fabrics for curtains and rollers- price point meant that it was worth trying out. Needless to say I fell in love with feel and look of the St Lucic sheer fabric, Linesque blockout. Linesque light filtering and the Weylands blockout curtain fabrics. The fabrics are distinct and yet complimentary to give our home a cohesive look throughout. We did proper measurements and placed an order for the whole house. The videos helped immensely in deciding on back/front rolled, silent/standard rail, single or double roller etc etc. Emails to iSeek were promptly answered and Jess and Teale were a delight to deal with over the phone too. Michael Gubby reponded to a very simple question as well (answer I later found was in one of the videos). The whole measuring process was a bit tedious for us as was the entering and then double checking the specifications entered for blinds as many of ours are linked. But we did have a huge number blinds to order. Curtains were more straightforward but it was important to measure the height at many points along the width of the curtain and choose the shortest or midway value for desired curtain height. On receiving the order, my husband installed all the roller blinds with minimal fuss and I programmed the remotes for the motorised blinds. We are yet to set up our Pulse 2 wifi system and I can't wait to open the kids blinds whilst lying in bed in the mornings (to their annoyance I am sure)! We Air Taskered the installation of the curtain tracks (several hollow wall anchors were needed) purely for convenience as hubby's time was limited. Worthwhile note- the cost of the iSeek curtains and Air Tasker for all the curtains in our home was half of what we had been quoted by one local company. The St Lucia sheers look like 'real' fabric and diffuses the light beautifully into the room. The Linseque ranges have a great linen woven look that is not like the typical roller blind fabric offerings. The Weyland curtain has a gorgeous high end woven linen look and great quality. It has just the right amount of weight to drape beautifully. So very pleased with this combination as the fabrics complement each other wonderfully. In our living spaces we installed only motorised roller blinds but we are now seriously considering installing Mystique fabric sheers in addition for aesthetic reasons as we have been so happy with what we have now and the confidence to trust the product supplied by iSeek. The decision to motorise 99% of our blinds has been absolutely worth it. For e.g. with so many large blinds in our open plan kitchen, dining and meals meant that chain driven would have been incredibly time consuming. The weight of the blinds would have made it annoying over time as we have discovered in the past from our previous homes. The kids can also operate the remotes easily and there are no chains to break or get caught in nor can blinds be over wound up or down. Overall, it is satisfying to know we installed the blinds in our home and that they look great and function well too. Very happy customers :-).
